Thousands of volunteers join anti-TB drive

JEDDAH: More than 4,000 volunteers have already joined a major campaign organized by the Health Ministry to combat tuberculosis. Serafi Mega Mall is the main sponsor of the event.

An exhibition of medicine baskets was held at the mall yesterday with the participation of 12 medical companies specialized in fighting tuberculosis. A number of hospitals and medical centers also took part.

Dr. Sami Eid, director of preventive medicine at Jeddah Health Department, inaugurated the campaign.

Field activities, including visits to schools, colleges and business centers, will start tomorrow to enhance public awareness on the disease, said a campaign official.
