The mission of the Alliance is to reduce the spread of HIV and meet the challenges of AIDS. Our vision is a world in which people do not die of AIDS. Since 1994, the Alliance and its partners have supported over 3,000 projects, in over 40 countries, reaching millions of people.
The International HIV/AIDS Alliance is looking to recruit a Programme Assistant: Organisational Communications to join the Communications Team based at our Brighton Secretariat.
The Alliance supports community action on HIV in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Programme Assistant will support the communications work of the Alliance, providing writing, editing, media and website support to the communications team.
The Programme Assistant must have strong, adaptable writing skills that can be developed to provide content for the web, magazines, newsletters, news reports and press releases.
In addition, s/he will have good editorial and proof reading skills. Other attributes include an interest in websites and electronic communications and an ability to support broader communications work in the Alliance.
Excellent computer skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team are essential.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, flexible and will possess a willingness to combine administrative/support work with tasks requiring more autonomy and creativity. S/he will also be committed to confronting HIV in developing countries.
